Bias

It’s great to stroll around the village centre, around the Maison de l’Arial, with its Landes-style architecture, close to the church… or by the pond in the old village! But it’s also great to admire the prowess of young and old alike on the pumptrack next to the city stadium and playground…

To each his own

Bias is a surprising village in more ways than one…

Nature is omnipresent: the pine forest occupies almost 90% of the surface area of this small village of 760 inhabitants. You can explore it by following an interpretation trail that leads to the small Bourg le Vieux pond, named after the 18th-century settlement of the parish of Bias.

This pond is an ideal spot for observing ducks, lapwings, snipe, passerines and woodcock, and is also a fishing site that has recently been adapted to accommodate people with reduced mobility.

When you’re in Bias, the beach isn’t far away, but it has to be earned… the road leading to it is very hilly, but so beautiful. At the end is the Lespecier beach (in the commune of Mimizan), which is supervised in season. It stands out from the other beaches because of its wild character, untouched by any construction but nevertheless equipped to welcome bathers, cyclists and pedestrians.

Then, around the Maison de l’Airial, in the shade of oak trees, let your instincts guide you as you discover the miraculous fountain of St Michel, the former prison, a pigeon house and a well-restored bread oven.

Finally, you’ll be drawn in by the chatter of parents, the laughter and shouts of children and young adults on their bikes or skates sliding down the pump track, unless they’re at the city stadium or playground…
