It's May 1st Vive la Fête de la mer

Every year, Mimizan fervently celebrates the Fête de la Mer, an unmissable event that combines tradition and conviviality.

A solemn and moving moment
The day begins with a mass at the Notre-Dame des Dunes church, followed by a blessing of the boats by the parish priest. Next, the boats, accompanied by the nautical associations, set sail for a parade and a tribute to the fallen sailors, marked by the laying of a wreath at sea.

A lively show follows!

The maritime parade combines traditional pinnaces with modern craft: motorboats, jet-skis… The whole of Mimizan vibrates to the rhythm of the festivities, with the participation of majorettes, bandas, cœurs d’homme and Landes stilt-walkers. A festive day for the whole family!
In addition to the parade, the seaside resort of Mimizan-Plage hosts a host of events to mark the official launch of the tourist season.

Pentecost weekend International triathlon

The 37th edition of the Mimizan Triathlon will take place on Saturday June 7 and Sunday June 8, 2025!

Events for everyone

The highlight of the Mimizan Triathlon is the “short distance” on Sunday afternoon. However, there are no fewer than 10 events on offer over the two days, for all ages and levels of ability, both individual and team. Mimizan appeals to sports families, major triathlon clubs and smaller clubs who appreciate the warm welcome extended to participants and top-level athletes alike.

The start of Sunday’s flagship event takes place in successive waves from the lake’s nautical center.

THE FORESTRY AND TIMBER INDUSTRY SHOW
Every 4 years, in the heart of the world’s largest production forest, on a 70-hectare site, 400 international exhibitors and more than 500 brands present the latest innovations, from forestry to logging.

Through exhibitions, demonstrations and workshops, as well as symposia, debates and visits to worksites and industrial sites, the show offers a comprehensive overview of the forestry and wood industry, “from seed to processing”.

September 5 to 7 Le National de Pétanque

Petanque fans, get ready!

The National de pétanque de Mimizan is back for its ninth edition, and once again promises to be THE not-to-be-missed event for all boules enthusiasts.

This year, more than 250 teams will compete on some 90 specially prepared gravel courts, laid out by the town’s technical services and the two local clubs, all working together to make this a memorable event.

But beyond the competition, it’s above all the spirit of camaraderie that prevails here. As the organizers so aptly put it:
“An opponent today, a friend tomorrow!”

So, whether you’re an outstanding shooter, a genius pointer or just here for the atmosphere, come and share some unforgettable moments in Mimizan!
